The Perfect Tomato

And bonus dessert!

I didn’t know how awesome tomatoes were until right now. It’s been a very slow evolution from hate to love but I’m glad I made it. I want to eat these amazing things every single day now. And if you’ve never tried those tiny ones on the stem, go do it right now. I’ll wait. They taste like candy!

A fellow photographer and very good friend and I decided to actually plan the food shoot we’ve been talking about doing together forever. So we hit the farmers market the other day (see that post here) for our ingredients. We originally planned on doing something of a 3 course meal but shooting food takes a long time (this took 6 hours to get 3 shots) and the weather was opposite of the clear skies we needed to use the grill for the 3rd dish so this is what we ended up with.

So enjoy the tomatoes as much as I did and then chase it with a tasty peach dessert.

As an added bonus, here are the recipes!
Stuffed heirloom tomato:
-(1) giant heirloom tomato, gutted
-Stuff with a medley of cooked brown rice (cook in broth for more flavor), yellow squash, broccoli, onions, and some of the tomato guts.
-Top with sharp cheese of your choice.
-Put under the broiler for about 5 min, until the tomato skin starts to peel a little.
-Add salt and pepper if you wish.

Peaches and cream on a biscuit:
-I used Trader Joe’s multigrain pancake/baking mix. It makes lousy pancakes but good biscuits.
-Cool whip (I used this because it holds up better for photographing but feel free to make your own. Or if you’re lazy, that stuff from the aerosol can.)
-Sliced ripe peach
-Drizzle with honey
